Giola – Natural swimming pool

Giola is a natural pool, located in the southeastern part of Thassos, after the village of Astris. Due to its unique natural beauty, Giola has become one of the most popular attractions of the island. 

Giola was created several centuries ago, and legend has it that Zeus created the goddess Aphrodite to bathe in it, because it was the only place whose beauty could be compared to the beauty of the goddess.The height of the rocks reaches 8 meters, from where you can dive into the beautiful light or dark green water, whose depth is 3 meters.

Archaeological Museum on Thassos

The museum is the most significant of its kind in the eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It has a 18 galleries and 1700 objects, you will admire collections from the 7th century B.C. to the 7th century A.D. There are exposed samples of ceramics, sculpture, coins, inscription and statues. Out of the exhibits, Kouros stands out in a height of 3.5 meters, along with the statues of Andrianos and Pegasus.

Monastery St. Archangel Michail

Monastery St. Archangel Michail is located a half hours of driving from accommodation, on the cliff, which has a fantastic view on the sea and Athos. The monastery is important primarily because of the holy nail of Christ’s hand from the crucifixion, as well as because of the spring of holy water that has healing power.
